The nation of Israel, long carrying out a slow moving ethnic cleansing of Palestine, has move up its repeatedly proven attempts at genocide of Palestinians by launching a military invasion of the Gaza Strip. In response to a Hamas attack that Israel claims killed 1,200 people and saw the taking of approximately 250 hostages, the Israeli government unleashed the Israeli military on the Gaza Strip. This brutal invasion is a clear and intentional campaign of extermination:
The Israeli army has killed 42,510 Palestinians over the course of its 200-day attack, 38,621 of whom were civilians, including 10,091 women and 15,780 children. …These statistics include the killing of 137 journalists, 356 medical personnel, and 42 civil defense personnel. …Based on these data, the daily death toll for Palestinians has reached 212, including 50 women and 79 children.
200 days of military attack on Gaza: A horrific death toll amid intl. failure to stop Israel’s genocide of Palestinians
As horrific as these facts are though, this article isn’t about them. This article is about the American response to these events and what those responses reveal about the utter stupidity of democracy as either a political or social system.
The American Political Response
I’m not going to talk much about the Americans that support Israel as it murders tens of thousands of innocent civilian men, women, and children. Whatever the cognitive dissonance between their support for Israel’s genocide of Palestinians and their other beliefs, on the issue of Israel they remain logically consistent. They support Israel and largely support the $3.3 billion a year the US government gives to Israel which is then required to use to buy U.S. military equipment and services. Altogether, about 15% of the Israeli military budget is money given to them by the United States, meaning that those bombs that Israel uses to crush babies alive as their homes explode on top of them were likely made in the United States and bought with American money.
Chief among Israel’s firmest supporters is American President Joe Biden. His unwavering support for Israel goes back over forty years. For example, during the 1982 Lebanon War, when Israel invaded and occupied southern Lebanon. The Lebanese civilian was so terrible that then President Ronald Reagan, the very model of modern American conservatism, called the Israeli slaughter of the Lebanese a “holocaust.” In contrast, then Prime Minister Menachem Begin shared this firsthand account of then Senator Joseph Biden’s response:
“A young senator rose and delivered a very impassioned speech — I must say that it’s been a while since I’ve heard such a talented speaker — and he actually supported Operation Peace for the Galilee,” Begin told Israeli reporters after he returned to Jerusalem.
The senator — Biden — said he would go even further than Israel, adding that he’d forcefully fend off anyone who sought to invade his country, even if that meant killing women or children.
“I disassociated myself from these remarks,” Begin said. “I said to him: No, sir; attention must be paid. According to our values, it is forbidden to hurt women and children, even in war… Sometimes there are casualties among the civilian population as well. But it is forbidden to aspire to this. This is a yardstick of human civilization, not to hurt civilians.”
Biden a veteran friend of Israel, settlement critic, may be at odds over Iran
In the last forty years, Biden’s warmongering hasn’t changed one bit. He supported the slaughter of women and children in order to achieve political goals in 1982 and he supports it in Israel today. As he said at a White House Hanukkah dinner after the start of Israel’s current slaughter of Palestinians:
“As I [Joe Biden] said after the [Oct.7] attack, my commitment to the safety of the Jewish people, and the security of Israel, its right to exist as an independent Jewish state, is unshakeable.
“Were there no Israel, there wouldn’t be a Jew in the world who is safe,” says the president, to loud applause.
“The warmth and connection I feel to the Jewish community is unquestionable.” Biden added that “I ran into trouble and criticism when I said a few years ago that you don’t have to be Jewish to be a Zionist, and I am a Zionist.”
‘I am a Zionist,’ says Biden at Hanukkah event, promises continued military assistance to Israel
The most that the withered old ghoul can muster is to threaten to not send 3,500 more bombs to Israel as it annihilates Rafah, the last Palestinian city in the Gaza Strip not already occupied and/or destroyed by Israel. Over a million people are faced with famine and pestilence if they’re lucky enough to survive the slaughter of war. Death haunts the streets as Mahmoud Khalil Amer, living in a tent near the Rafah cemetery, says, “We are not living, the dead are better than us.”
Of course, Biden’s “pause” doesn’t matter. It is purely performative, political theater. As shown above, the United States has given billions of dollars to Israel for it to specifically use to buy weapons of wars. And since Israel invaded the Gaza Strip, the United States has approved over a hundred additional military sales to Israel. Only two of those are public knowledge: $106 million worth of tank ammunition and $147.5 million of components needed to make 155 mm shells – both done by Biden just declaring an emergency so he could get around having to get congressional approval for the sales. Who knows how much the rest of the sales total. These sales are in addition to the $26 billion package that the US government approved in late April, 2024.
While hosting a celebration for Jewish American Heritage Month, Biden declared that “What’s happening in Gaza is not genocide. We reject that. …We stand with Israel to take out [Hamas leader Yahya] Sinwar and the rest of the butchers of Hamas. We want Hamas defeated. We’re working with Israel to make that happen.”
All of which means that Biden’s threatening to withhold a few extra bombs is absolutely meaningless. His determined path is to make it possible for Israel to slaughter as many people as it wants under the guise of “defeating Hamas” and contemporary holocaust denial.
It isn’t just genocide that Biden helps Israel carry out, it also strives to protect Israel from facing any repercussions of committing genocide. Karim Khan, a prosecutor for the International Criminal Court has asked for an arrest warrant to be issued for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for the crimes of:
- Starvation of civilians as a method of warfare as a war crime contrary to article 8(2)(b)(xxv) of the Statute;
- Wilfully causing great suffering, or serious injury to body or health contrary to article 8(2)(a)(iii), or cruel treatment as a war crime contrary to article 8(2)(c)(i);
- Wilful killing contrary to article 8(2)(a)(i), or Murder as a war crime contrary to article 8(2)(c)(i);
- Intentionally directing attacks against a civilian population as a war crime contrary to articles 8(2)(b)(i), or 8(2)(e)(i);
- Extermination and/or murder contrary to articles 7(1)(b) and 7(1)(a), including in the context of deaths caused by starvation, as a crime against humanity;
- Persecution as a crime against humanity contrary to article 7(1)(h);
- Other inhumane acts as crimes against humanity contrary to article 7(1)(k).
Now, long time readers will know that I couldn’t care less about the so-called international courts of global governments, but political Leftists do, seeing “internationalism” as an essential feature of Left wing politics. So, what response did President Joe Biden, supposedly one of the most “Progressive” presidents in recent history, have to this call for international justice? Was it a declaration of support for the cause and a determination that anyone accused of such horrific evils be held accountable? In a word, “No.” Here is the official White House Response:
The ICC prosecutor’s application for arrest warrants against Israeli leaders is outrageous. And let me be clear: whatever this prosecutor might imply, there is no equivalence — none — between Israel and Hamas. We will always stand with Israel against threats to its security.
Statement from President Joe Biden on the Warrant Applications by the International Criminal Court
The idea of holding those accused of committing acts of domestic terrorism, inhumanity, and genocide accountable in a court of law is “outrageous” to President Joe Biden who, once again, declared his unending determination to support the Israeli state.
All of these facts mean one conclusion is inescapable.
As Israel was actively murdering tens of thousands of Palestinians and driving them from their lands in a mass act of ethnic cleansing, President Joe Biden actively collaborated with the Israeli government in carrying out this campaign of genocide and protecting them from all responsibility.
A vote for Genocide Joe means you are voting for and in support of genocide and protecting genocidal war criminals from being held accountable for their evils.
The Pro-Palestinian Protests
In response to the American political support for genocide, American university students (and students in other nations) have begun mass, decentralized protest and sit-in campaigns demanding that their universities specifically and the United States generally stop supporting, funding, and making possible the genocide of Palestinians. And the support for these protests is fairly widespread among students themselves:
Three surveys of college students by Intelligent.com, Generation Lab/Axios, and Newsweek/College Pulse find that roughly 3 in 5 students are on campuses where pro-Palestinian protests are occurring, roughly 1 in 10 students are participating in these protests, and a significant portion of students not participating in the protests are supportive of them. According to the Intelligent.com survey, support among students for the protests is as high as 65%.
Majority of college students support Israel/Gaza campus protests, 1 in 10 actually participate in them
The New York Times produced a map which, while a little out of date now, shows that the protests were and are taking place all across the nation.
So, what has been the political response?
The Telegraph shows us very clearly what has happened:
Yes, the American political response has been to send police into the camps to beat, assault, arrest, and imprison protestors. The same group of jackboots who can’t be bothered to defend defenseless children from armed murderers have no problem marching in and beating unarmed university students. Once again we see that the police do not serve the public. The police are the domestic arm of the government military, performing the same function of violently enforcing state rule in your home city as American soldiers do in Iraq. The government is at war with us and the police are the government’s first line of violent enforcement. And the will of these political masters now is to crush all serious critics of its genocidal policies abroad. This kind of tyranny is inevitable in a statist (“state-ist”) form of government. You get what you pay for.
Of course, the response of mass media, whether politically Left or politically Right, has been to push out as much pro-Israel, anti-Palestine and anti-protestor propaganda as possible. The New York Times has given strict instructions to its writers to never tell the truth and to always push pro-Israel propaganda:
THE NEW YORK TIMES instructed journalists covering Israel’s war on the Gaza Strip to restrict the use of the terms “genocide” and “ethnic cleansing” and to “avoid” using the phrase “occupied territory” when describing Palestinian land, according to a copy of an internal memo obtained by The Intercept.
The memo also instructs reporters not to use the word Palestine “except in very rare cases” and to steer clear of the term “refugee camps” to describe areas of Gaza historically settled by displaced Palestinians expelled from other parts of Palestine during previous Israeli–Arab wars. The areas are recognized by the United Nations as refugee camps and house hundreds of thousands of registered refugees.
…In January, The Intercept published an analysis of New York Times, Washington Post, and Los Angeles Times coverage of the war from October 7 through November 24 — a period mostly before the new Times guidance was issued. The Intercept analysis showed that the major newspapers reserved terms like “slaughter,” “massacre,” and “horrific” almost exclusively for Israeli civilians killed by Palestinians, rather than for Palestinian civilians killed in Israeli attacks.
LEAKED NYT GAZA MEMO TELLS JOURNALISTS TO AVOID WORDS “GENOCIDE,” “ETHNIC CLEANSING,” AND “OCCUPIED TERRITORY”
A majority of American states have made it illegal to work for the government in any form and protest Israel in any manner. Texas has targeted pro-Palestine/anti-genocide protestors directly:
In late March, Gov. Greg Abbott ordered public universities to revise their free speech policies and singled out some pro-Palestine student groups, saying they should be subject to discipline. The order told officials for Texas university systems to report back free speech policy changes within 90 days. …Multiple people have been arrested at UT-Austin during such demonstrations, even though administrators at other Texas universities have not responded as aggressively to campus protests. …Gov. Greg Abbott has cheered the arrests and called for the students to be expelled.
Here’s what the law says about protesting on Texas college campuses
At the national level there has been vast bipartisan support for the monstrous Antisemitism Awareness Act, which passed the House of Representatives. If it becomes law, the Act would compel the Department of Education to use the definition of antisemitism provided by the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA). Among the examples of antisemitism provided by the IHRA are:
- Denying the Jewish people their right to self-determination, e.g., by claiming that the existence of a State of Israel is a racist endeavor.
- Drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis.
- Using the symbols and images associated with classic antisemitism (e.g., claims of Jews killing Jesus or blood libel) to characterize Israel or Israelis.
The first would make the just and factual statement that Israel is engaged in a racist genocidal effort the ethnically cleanse the land of Palestine of its native peoples against he law to say. It would make it illegal to speak the truth. The second builds on the first and tries to prevent comparison between the racist, militaristic, and genocidal actions of the Israeli government with the racist, militaristic, and genocidal actions of history’s most infamously racist, militaristic, and genocidal state. The third would possibly make the Holy Bible illegal.
Yes, you read that correctly.
The IHRA claims that claiming that Jews killed Jesus is antisemitic. This is what the Holy Bible says on the subject:
In Acts 3 and 4, Peter is preaching to Jewish leaders and a Jewish crowd. In 1 Thessalonians 2, the Apostle Paul is writing to other Christians about the Jewish persecution of Christians. All of them imply or outright say that Jews killed Jesus.
American politicians are going so far to protect and fund Israel’s genocide of Palestine that they’re flirting with making the Holy Bible against the law. This is how crazy the response from the political and corporate elites to the pro-Palestine/anti-genocide protests have been. They would rather make the truth illegal than allow anyone to say it. They would rather beat and imprison people than let them be heard calling for peace and an end to the slaughter of Palestinian men, women, and children. American politicians and police would rather brutalize their own people than be critical of Israel.
The Democratic Revelation
I’m sure you’re thinking, “Alright. This is all terrible. But how does it prove that democracy is an absurd shame foster among the public in order to control them and prevent serious challenges to political authority?”
I’ll show you.
Boston-area college students say they feel disillusioned ahead of this year’s presidential election, but a sense of responsibility for the country’s future will drive them to the polls. …Many said it’s hard to feel like a vote for either candidate will make a difference. They said a Trump-Biden rematch will force them to choose between two candidates who don’t inspire them. But nearly all said they plan to vote for Biden, in order to keep Donald Trump out of office.
…A new Harvard Kennedy School poll released Thursday found Biden leading Trump among young adults, 56% to 37%. The poll included responses from 2,010 young Americans from across the country, aged 18 to 29 — 1,051 of them likely voters. Among those voters, Biden’s lead is strongest with women; they give him a 33-point edge over Trump, while young men favor Biden by just 6 points.
College students disillusioned over political choices, lean toward Biden
And the Harvard Youth Poll, the largest of its kind in the nation, discovered:
In a head-to-head matchup, Biden leads Trump by eight points (45 percent-37 percent). Among those most likely to vote, his lead expands to 19 points (56 percent-37 percent). That’s considerably smaller than Biden’s advantage in spring 2020 when he was up by 23 points among all young voters and 30 points among likely voters.
Younger votes still lean toward Biden — but it’s complicated
Think about what this means.
People who are absolutely convinced that he is either enabling or directly committing genocide are ready and dedicated to voting for him, to vote for genocide, as long as it means their party wins. They’re in effect saying, “Genocide is bad. That is why I will be voting to empower genocide!” That is if they care at all because, as the Harvard Youth Poll shows, very few of them seem to care that they’re supporting and empowering genocidal mass murderers at all. In fact, “protecting democracy” is far more important than “preventing the people elected from using our money and wepaons to slaughter tens of thousands of children.”
Isn’t that disgusting?
Isn’t that absurd?
That’s democracy.
That is centuries of indoctrination into the great lie of government, of being told that voting matters, that the ruling powers are “your” government, that this is “your” country, that you should support the troops who are dying for your freedom, and so on ad infinitum. Almost all of us have been raised in one of the two major sects of the Death Cult of the State and even when we recognize that what it is doing is monstrous, horrific, and absolutely evil we cannot imagine disobeying it or that there is a better way. Thus constrained in knowledge, thus limited in wisdom, thus bound by mental slavery, they cannot do anything other than submit to the parasites and monsters that make up the ruling political and social elite.
That is the whole point of democracy. It manufactures your consent to the grossest evils and empowers the most sociopathic people to be able to do whatever they want as long as they follow the right forms and mumble the right incantations about “liberty,” “democracy,” and “freedom.” Democracy bribes you with government grants and welfare benefits so you have no desire to pay attention to the monster behind the curtain. No wonder Biden can stand before people and declare, “democracy is still the way.” He knows that as long as people are subservient to the government and believe that all you have to do is vote harder then the inevitable outcome will be that he and those like him stay in power no matter how many children they slaughter, cities they destroy, or civilizations they annihilate.
As long as power exists, they will keep it. And democracy, the delusion that the state answers to you, is how they will do it. Worse, you will through voluntary submission to it empower the government to commit the grossest and wickedest evils with no repercussions, even with great adulations. This makes democracy the greatest tool of social/political control ever devised by politicians. Believing in democracy places their boot on your face and convinces you that you should be grateful for it.
That is the truth of democracy.
And it is sickening.
Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords may be no basis for a system of government, but watery tarts throwing swords isn’t any worse than giving supreme executive power to the winner of the nation’s largest popularity contest every four years. Both are stupid.
Thankfully there are better options.
