This article explores evidence for ancient Sumerian in the Book of Mormon, especially as it pertains to the origins of and terms for the Nephite Interpreters. Joseph Smith’s accurate transliteration and translation of a language dead for over 4,000 years and undeciphered during his lifetime is proof of Joseph’s prophetic origins and the ancient origins of the Book of Mormon.
